At Gateway Psychological Services, the goal is to assist the client gain perspective and control of their lives through support and guidance. A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
At Gateway Psychological Services, I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes in self-defeating behavior and in feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results - and with my services, I will help you achieve just that. Good psychotherapy addresses both current symptoms and the underlying issues. I believe in taking a holistic approach to treatment that utilizes an eclectic mix of techniques as well as a thorough understanding of the environment and context.

Conflict resolution and support
Strong, long-lasting relationships start with healthy individuals. Therefore, using skills such as good communication and effective conflict resolution are a primary focus. My goal is to provide an environment in which both parties are heard and support for individual and collective needs.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
Identifying your needs
Accurate diagnosis is a necessary requirement for effective treatment and an an essential tool at GPS. Additionally, psychoeducational assessment designed to identify IQ/giftedness and learning disabilities are also offered.
ABOUT DR. MISSORY
Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time
I am a Florida licensed psychologist and have resided with my wife and children in St. Petersburg since 2004. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, I relocated from the Pittsburgh-area to Florida. I completed my graduate training at Argosy University, Tampa, earning a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology in 2008 and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2010. I completed my internship at the Manatee Glens/Children's Home Consortium and my post-doctoral residency at a private practice in Tampa. After 5 years providing psychological services as a member of group practice in Manatee County and I opened my current practice in St. Petersburg in 2016. I am excited to bring my services to my adopted hometown of St. Pete in the form of Gateway Psychological Services.
Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist, I worked as a social worker in various community mental health agencies, the school/truancy system, and the DCF/Child Protection system. This extensive experience in social services has afforded me a unique perspective on mental health treatment and a deep understanding of both community supports and the environmental factors that contribute to individual and family concerns. Oftentimes, mental health symptoms are situational as well as intrapsychic, and I feel strongly that my combination of training, experience, clinical skills, and holistic approach to treatment has enabled me to provide successful outcomes for a broad range of presenting problems and across all demographics.
